We are only six months into 2019 & over a dozen trans women have been viciously murdered simply because they lived their truth in front of the world. The month of June celebrated Pride for the LGBTQ community & those same people have spoke it loud & proud of being comfortable in their skin no matter who agrees. This past Saturday, June 29th Australian rapper Iggy Azalea performed in Chicago for World Pride Day to show her love & support for all people of the rainbow.
More detail below.
Iggy rocked the stage at Pride in the Park where she took a brief moment during her set to address the trans lives that have been taken by murder. She highlighted her speech speaking on the trans women of color & a special fan name Michelle staying, "I see the struggle she goes through everyday just to be herself, just to walk out the door, & do shit I have the privilege to do everyday".
I’m about to cry, seriously. This night. This moment. Her words. @IGGYAZALEA thank you for saying what you said. I know it’s hard to speak on something that you’re not used to speaking on and not sure how to speak on correctly, but it meant so much. To so many. We thank you. pic.twitter.com/XoJ6EKlKMg— Kevin Welch π (@KevinWelchhh) June 30, 2019
