Last week when Nicki Minaj released the song “Rich Sex” with Lil’ Wayne many people a lot to say regarding an alleged promotion of prostitution. One person in particular had a strong opinion & wanted to let Minaj know that he didn’t agree with the songs lyrical content.
A young man named Jerome Trammel tweeted the rapper calling her a hypocrite & said that in her interview with Elle Magazine she was slut shaming women. In the interview Minaj spoke about how she didn’t realize that a lot of women were modern day prostitutes, “it makes me sad as a woman. And it makes me sad that maybe I’ve contributed to that in some way.”
“Maybe I was naïve, but I didn’t realize how many girls were modern-day prostitutes,” she begins. “Whether you’re a stripper, or whether you’re an Instagram girl—these girls are so beautiful and they have so much to offer. But I started finding out that you give them a couple thousand dollars, and you can have sex with them. I was like, Yikes. It’s just sad that they don’t know their worth. It makes me sad as a woman. And it makes me sad that maybe I’ve contributed to that in some way.”
After her words hit the internet that is when Jerome hand delivered his response & once she saw his tweet she boldly responded.
After receiving the tweet Minaj responded to Jerome with the following:
According to social media Nicki then called her fellow Barbz to attack Jerome which they did. It resulted in him following up with another tweet regarding being flooded with attacks.
I will start off by saying yes Nicki told fans to attack the young man, but they took it upon themselves to research & find his personal information. She never instructed them to do these things are threaten bodily harm. With or without Nicki saying anything the Barbz would’ve done this on their own as they did anyway. That sad thing is that Jerome claims to be depressed from the threats & bullying, but he remains on social media tweeting out additional negative comments only making the situation worse. A person who is fearful of their life wouldn’t display these types of actions.
Could Nicki Minaj have handled the situation in a better & more positive manner? Yes, but Jerome tweeted her & attacked her & just like he has freedom of speech she has the same as well.
