AALIYAH’S ESTATE BLASTS BARRY HANKERSON’S UNAUTHORIZED ANNOUNCEMENT TO RELEASE HER MUSIC

The 20th anniversary of Aaliyah’s unfortunate death is approaching on August 25th & her estate is continuing to battle her record label Blackground Records that is controlled by her uncle Barry Hankerson to try & gain control of her music & precious legacy.

More details below.

Late Wednesday evening Mr. Hankerson sent Aaliyah fans into excitement when he launched a new website called Aaliyahiscoming.com. The announcement teased fans of feeling that her music will finally be released to music streaming platforms after many years of wondering why her catalogue can’t be streamed to the masses via the new level Blackground 2.0.

People feel like Hankerson is using Aaliyah’s likeness to help launch his new record label & it has rubbed Aaliyah’s estate the wrong way. The estate has released a official statement via her Instagram account expressing their feelings about the situation.

At the end of the statement the official statement says that they will “continue to defend ourselves, especially against those who have emerged from the shadows to leech off of Aaliyah’s life work.”
