WATCH: JUSSIE SMOLLETT TALKS 'EMPIRE', MUSIC, ACTIVISM, & MORE ON 'THE BREAKFAST CLUB'



Jussie Smollett has been an actor since the age of four years old, but his career took off when the tv show Empire premiered on the Fox network. Now that the show has gained tons of success his music career has received the benefits of the shows ratings. The 34 year old was a guest on The Breakfast Club where he spoke on his career as a actor, singer & activist who believes in standing firmly in what he believes in.

Back in 2015 it was announced that Jussie had been signed to recording contract with Columbia Records, but during the interview he revealed that he asked to be released from the contract that was through the Fox network. He boasts about all of the opportunities that Empire has provided for him & helped to build connections outside of the show with many talented industry peers like super producer Swizz Beatz.

Jussie took time out to chat about many of the racial issues that is going on in the world & says, "I lead with my blackness". Growing up his mother helped to bring awareness in the issues that is going on so he uses his platform & voice to do the same that he saw growing up.



Jussie is currently on tour to promote his debut album Sum Of My Music where he will be joined by June's Diary & Victory Boyd.
