KIM BURRELL DROPPED AS BMI GOSPEL TRAILBLAZER AWARD HONOREE & RADIO SHOW CANCELLED

When it rains it surely will pour!!! Ever since Kim Burrell went on a homophobic rant during a sermon last week her name & credibility has been a headline. She was attacked by many LGBT people on social media because of her remarks & even Ellen DeGeneres decided to not have her on her talk show as a guest with Pharrell Williams. Now, the gospel singer has been asked not to attend the upcoming BMI Trailblazers of Gospel Music event.

More details below.

Due to the critical backlash that Burrell has been receiving from all angles the BMI organization has asked her to not be apart of any of the festivities. She was originally scheduled to be honored alongside Marvin Sapp, but that is no longer happening. The Trailblazers of Gospel Music event is an annual celebration of gospel music & it's songwriters & the organization has released a statement on why she will no longer be apart of it.

"Given the controversy surrounding this year's co-honoree Kim Burrell, we have asked her to not take part in the ceremony in order to allow the focus to remain on the songwriters and their music."

BMI went on to explain saying,

"BMI was founded over 76 years ago with an open door policy to welcome songwriters across all genres, and that same spirit of tolerance, diversity and inclusiveness continues today."

The ceremony is schedule to take place at the Rialto Center for the arts in Atlanta on January 14th. Kim's brand new Christian radio show has also been dropped from the Texas Southern University's radio programming.
