JAY Z IS THE FIRST RAPPER NOMINATED FOR SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME

Congrats are in order for Jay Z, this is another major notch under his belt. He is the first rapper ever to be nominated for the Songwriters Hall of Fame and hopefully he gets it. He definitely deserves it and when he wins, we can say he earned it.

Joining Hov in the nominations are Babyface, Kool and the Gang, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Madonna, Gloria Estefan, Vince Gill and a few more. The annual induction and award gala will not take place until June of next year, however, the voting will take place next month. In order to be eligible for this Songwriters Hall of Fame, you have to have at least 20 years of songwriting experience. It is also divided up into two categories, "performing songwriters" and "non performing songwriters".

Seeing as how Jay's Reasonable Doubt came out in 1996, that gives him 20 years in the game. There are many other inductees included and we want to wish them all the best of luck. However, we want this L for Jay Z, especially since he is the first rapper to ever be nominated. We will just have to wait and see when the results come out.

Lets keep our fingers crossed and send out some early congrats!
