In 2016 songstress JoJo made her official return to music with the album Mad Love after being silenced by her former record label Blackground Records. She & her music was received by fans with love & support. She addressed her fans & critics on the new song titled “Joanna” that is the intro to her forthcoming studio album.

The chill vibed track sees her song about her a sense from the music scene & her underrated career as she sings, “you peaked... you were supposed to be somebody”. She took to Instagram to present the new record that came with a short explanation.

exactly a year ago I rented an air b&b, set up a studio and got some of my favorite creative friends together to start making my album w me. this was one of the best times I’ve ever had. I felt so supported and safe. Safe enough to get really brutally honest and address things I’ve seen and heard about myself for years and sometimes believed. here’s a few photos from the day we made “joanna”... it started as a stream of consciousness. i was scared to let people hear it. but it’s all part of the journey. we’re quick to cancel ppl, man. but what do we reeeeally know about anyone else’s reality and experience? the first song from my new chapter is comin TONITE. “JOANNA”. my real name. omggg 🙀 ! wanted 2 get a few things off my chest b4 we fully dive into the newness. talk soon‬. #Joanna
