In early August it was announceee by Madame Tussaud’s museum that they would be immortalizing the late singer Aaliyah in wax. Fans rejoiced I’m excitemrent of what the wax figure would look like before it’s unveiling at the Las Vegas location. The figure is a replica of Aaliyah who is also known as Babygirl of her music video for “Try Again” from the 2000 movie soundtrack for Romeo Must Die.
Aaliyah’s brother Rashad Haughton was at the Las Vegas unveiling ceremony & was photographed standing by the figure. He also was a big part of the creation of the wax figure & the process of designing the sculpture. Rashad spoke with Vibe magazine about the wax figure recently saying,
“I was involved in the process from the inception of the project. The team at Madame Tussauds welcomed a collaborative effort in choosing the pose and look of my sister’s figure. They made sure my mother and I were comfortable and supported through an amazing but understandably emotional process.”
Aaliyah’s was figure was unveiled just days before the 18th anniversary of her death which happened on August 25, 2001 when she was only 22 years old.
