THE WEEKEND & BELLY CANCELS PERFORMANCE DUE TO TRUMP

Donald Trump sure knows how to upset people and just put off negative vibes that many don't want to be bothered with and I guess this was case with singer The Weekend and rapper Belly. The two were scheduled to perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight, but once they got wind that Donald Trump was going to be the guest on the show, they decided that the performance was no longer going to happen.

The duo was set to perform Belly's song "Might Not", however, Belly did not want to share the stage with Trump and he disagrees with some of his views and beliefs. Belly told the Associated Press, "I feel like the way I was raised was to be able to see through all the titles in this world - from religion to race. I just didn't want to feel like I was apart of a celebration for somebody who has beliefs that majority of us don't agree with."

If you are not aware of who Belly is, he is a rapper who is signed to Jay Z's Roc Nation management and he has worked with The Weekend on some of his biggest hits, as well as Beyoncé. The rapper co-wrote songs "Often", "Earned It", "The Hills" and "Into the Night" for The Weekend, as well as "6 Inch" for Beyoncé off of the "Lemonade" album.

Belly also had this to say about the cancellation of the performance: "I am here on a campaign of positivity and love and to contribute what I can to music. I create songs people go to sleep and wake up to, songs that they fall in love to. For me, being Muslim and being somebody that appreciates my access here in America, I love the fact that I'm able to be here. To play my part in this business is a privilege and a beautiful thing. The fact that I could lose all that ability through the actions of someone such as Donald Trump isn't right to me. At all."

In this day and time, I am happy that people still have morals and beliefs and big ups to rapper Belly for standing for what he believes is right. At the time, reps for The Weekend, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and Donald Trump had not responded.
