Back in May it was revealed that singer/actress turned Broadway star Brandy would be joining that cast of the hit television show Empire for the upcoming second season. During season one the show had many celebrity appearances that week after week catapulted the ratings in such a way that many were not expecting, but season two will see even more famous faces.

Over the weekend it was revealed that singer Kelly Rowland will be the latest celebrity to join the Empire family. At the 2015 Essence Music Festival the announcement was made that she will be playing the role of Lucious Lyon's mother in a flashback scene. The original speculation began last month when Rowland shared a picture of herself along with the shows screenwriters leading many to believe that she would be apart of the upcoming anticipated season.

"I'm a big fan of Empire and I'm gonna get the privilege to be apart of the Empire family, they're writing me into the script as a character, not as myself, which is kind of cool. I'm digging that."
Kelly Rowland will be joining other Hollywood celebrities like Chris Rock, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz & Ne-Yo who recently had this to say about his dealings with the show:
"Also I'm doing a lot of the music for the second season, so that's special."
Season 2 will kick off on September 2nd on FOX.
