Congrats are in order for our Bae, Rihanna!! You can't deny that she has been doing her thing out here so any awards or accolades given to her are pretty much well deserved. Well this time, Rih was nominated for the "Shoe of the Year" by Footwear News for her collaborative shoe "The Creeper" with Puma.
Now I know many of you are wondering, what qualifies a person to win this title for "Shoe of the Year". There are many factors that come in to play such as the overall buzz for the shoes, as well as the retail sales (which should have been a given), and consumer feedback. Rih takes the crown from Kanye West, who won the title last year for his Yeezy Boost 350 with Adidas. This will make Rihanna the first woman to ever receive the "Shoe of the Year" award so that is also something major.
The Barbados beauty shared her excitement about the news via her Instagram page. She also told Footwear News, "It means so much to me to make a mark like this in the shoe and sneaker industry and to have so many people share my love for the Creeper". FN decided that giving Rihanna this award was a no brainer considering that the shoe sold out within 3 hours of its debut. According to the website, the Fenty x Puma Creeper was the ONLY choice for the 2016 Shoe of the Year.
Congrats to Rih again for winning this award and just making major moves. Speaking of moves, she has started filming for Ocean's Eight as well..... will you be checking out the movie when it gets released?
