Yesterday it was reported that Mary J. Blige had filed for divorce from her husband Kendu Issacs of 12 years. The songstress who usually keeps a low-key life, but lives her life as a music artist in the spotlight has now spoken out regarding the unfortunate demise of her marriage.
Speaking via a rep for the r&b singer, this is what she had to say:
"Ms. Blige is saddened to say [that] it is true that she has filed for divorce, saying sometimes things don’t work how we hoped they would… but, there is a divine plan and a reason for everything. Mary will continue writing and working on her album, which is due out later this year along with her world tour. She thanks and appreciates her fans for their support and love through this very difficult emotional time.” via Essence
While this is extremely sad news, it's great that we will be receiving new music from the queen. It'll be very interesting to see what the material will sound like versus that sound of her last studio album The London Sessions.
