PRESIDENT OBAMA NAMES JUNE 2016 AFRICAN-AMERICAN MUSIC MONTH

Don't you just love our President and everything that he stands for?! He has been the dopest president in office thus far and it feels good that the POTUS is so relatable. If you have been following President Barack Obama, then you already know that he has a love thang for good music. What better way to show his love and appreciation, than to deem June 2016 African-American Music Appreciation Month.

June was initially named Black Music Month back in 1979 by President Carter and its great to see another president acknowledging the day as well. When Obama was sworn into office, he changed the name of the day to what it currently is and has observed it every year for "the music that reminds us that our growth as a nation and as people is reflected in our capacity to create great works of art."

"During African-American Music Appreciation Month, we honor the artist who, through this music, bring us together, show us a true reflection of ourselves, and inspire us to reach for the harmony that lies beyond our toughest struggles."

I don't know about y'all but I am sure gonna miss this guy when his term is up. It was great to be able to witness history being made with our 1st black president, who was elected for two terms. Check out more the whole proclamation here.
