SNOOP DOGG SAYS HIP-HOP IS READY FOR A GAY RAPPER

Over the past couple of months many celebrities have been standing up for the rights of the LGBT community & voicing their opinions on the subject of equality. Rapper Jay-Z voiced his positive opinion during a interview in Philadelphia, country music star Carrie Underwood also let the world know that gays should be allowed to marry whoever they loved & now Snoop Dogg says that the world is ready for a gay rapper.

Read more after the jump.

Snoop believes that the music industry is ready for a openly gay rapper, while speaking with the Associated Press he stated his opinion on the topic that most would probably disagree with especially in a male dominated industry.

"People are learning how to live & get along more, & except people for who they are & not bash them or hurt them because they're different."

Before the release of his Channel Orange album music artist Frank Ocean revealed to his fans & the entire world that he was indeed gay & also spoke about the first time he fell in love with a man. Snoop Dogg also commented on Ocean & his coming out saying:

"When I was growing up, you could never do that & announce that. There would be so much scrutiny & hate & negativity & no one would step (forward) to support you because that's what we were brainwashed & trained to know."

I truly believe that over the past few years the world has made a lot of positive progression especially when it comes to the gay community. More gays feel very comfortable to come out of the "closet" & truly be who they are & do so freely, with that said the music industry is not the same it was back in the 90's & early 2000's making it easier for a gay rapper to enter the industry. I will not be easy for a gay rapper to break into the music industry but I believe that I can be done & when it does happen I think that many will wonder why it didn't happen sooner. Prime example their is a openly gay NY rapper by the name of Loco Ninja who has not only worked with rappers of the LGBT community but also have created many songs with straight rappers & have been featured on their songs as well. His confidence in his craft made it possible for him not to be judged & be respected for his lyrical talents.
